Solar Design Associates focused on the strategic nature of National Grid’s PV array in Revere from the project’s inception. Because the system is located next to an existing, overloaded substation, PV capacity and interconnection were carefully considered. The same level of attention was paid to PV mounting, which is fully ballasted in order not to disturb the ground at the contaminated site.
As Owner’s Engineer, SDA developed the project concept with National Grid, completed PV system design and engineering, then provided bid review and EPC selection assistance. During the installation process, SDA provided technical construction support. The SDA team also oversaw the entire systems commissioning, providing spot checks and on-site performance testing. Construction support and witness commissioning are measures of quality control which ensure National Grid that they can count on the contracted energy production capacity for years to come.
