The new Science Center at Amherst College was recently honored as a winner of the 2019 COTE Top 10 Awards by the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The Awards recognize projects for their environmental performance as well as for excellence in design. Situated on the liberal arts college’s campus in Amherst, MA, the Science Center opened in 2018 and features a roof top solar array that is integrated into the building design. SDA worked with the project team including the Payette architecture firm to provide for an exceptionally functional state-of-the-art building. SDA provided design development, assisted with interconnection applications, developed PV system construction documents, and gave construction period engineering support.
