A new hybrid has recently joined the SDA flock. I purchased a Toyota Prius C, the latest hybrid car to be available in the US. The car is smaller in size than the original Prius and weighs about 500lbs. less. It has a drag coefficient of 0.28, which is not as impressive as the larger car, which fights the wind at a slick 0.25. At high speeds, the Prius C won’t be as efficient as the original Prius, but I have been averaging 55-60mpg on short trips around town.
It’s hard to say if the official SDA car is the Prius or the original Honda Insight…you decide.
